CBS Pulls 'Chaos' After Three Episodes
by Jean Bentley (tvsquad.com) 07:00:23AM (DST) Wednesday,April 20,2011. After just three episodes, CBS has pulled the mid-season spy series, which the network describes as "a comedic drama about a group of rogue CIA spies in the Clandestine Administration and Oversight Services (CHAOS), who combat threats to national security amidst bureaucratic gridlock, rampant incompetence and political infighting." ![]() Friday night's show was seen by an audience of just 5.7 million, earning a 1.0 rating among the 18-49 demographic -- up slightly from the week before, but not as much as what 'Medium' and 'Defenders' drew in the same 8PM time slot, Deadline reports. Luckily, CBS already has a backup on hand. It'll start airing the Canadian drama 'Flashpoint' on May 6, with reruns of 'CSI: NY' filling the time slot for the next two weeks. AOL TV critic Maureen Ryan found that although the show's "mild quirkiness" made for "a mostly male action-adventure hour that is energetic and mildly amusing from time to time," it wasn't distinctive enough to make a mark. The route 'Chaos' took to air was quite dramatic, with the actors' contracts expiring before CBS and studio 20th Century Fox could strike a deal. The companies ultimately agreed, with CBS picking up 13 episodes of the series. ----------------------------------------------------------------- * Sometimes promos can warn viewers not to watch. This one was it. There are televisions shows such as "Chaos" might of done better in the theaters as a movie, seen only once and hoping for a hit. May I add a possible Blu Ray/DVD/PPV release. *
