AT&T slams FCC report on T-Mobile merger
PETER SVENSSON (The Associated Press) 05:39:26AM (ET) Friday,December 2,2011. NEW YORK (AP) — AT&T says the Federal Communications Commission compiled an unfair and biased report on what would happen if AT&T were allowed to buy T-Mobile USA. AT&T agreed in March to buy T-Mobile USA for $39 billion, but the deal has encountered opposition, first from the Justice Department and then from the FCC. Analysts now give it only a slim chance of going through. The FCC took the unusual step of releasing its analysis of the merger on Tuesday. In its response Thursday, AT&T Inc. says the report gives the impression "that it is an advocacy piece, and not a considered analysis." The report says the merger would threaten fragile competition, yet it cites existing competition as a strong motivator for AT&T, the company says. -------------------------------------------------------- This has become a hot issue this week. Posted two threads on this topic and now becoming a mini series. I believe AT&T wanted to keep this situation private. ($39 billion doesn't keep things quiet) Quote:
There are poker faces in this business...
