Michael Vick would be 'honored' to play with Brett Favre

Count Michael Vick as one who fully endorses Brett Favre's return to the NFL -- at least as the Eagles' backup quarterback.

"I would be honored to have Brett Favre as a backup. That will be amazing Learning how to toy with defenses the way he did his whole career," Vick said via Twitter on Sunday.
Brett Favre name is being tied to the Eagles this weekend.

A Philadelphia TV report surfaced Saturday saying the Eagles are interested in signing Favre.

On Sunday, FOX Sports reporter Jay Glazer cited two unnamed Eagles sources as saying the team would not pursue Favre. Philly.com said through unnamed league sources that a deal was "the longest of long shots."

The 41-year-old Favre filed retirement papers with the NFL last January, according to reports.

The Philadelphia Inquirer also reported Saturday that an Eagles source did not deny WCAU-TV's report, saying only that signing Favre is a "long shot" and that "a lot of things would need to fall into place" for it to happen.

The Eagles are thought to be one of the more active teams in free agency once a labor agreement is reached. They would likely need to trade current backup quarterback, Kevin Kolb, in order to make room for Favre.

Neither Favre, nor his agent Bus Cook, have indicated a return to pro football this season is in the works.

Favre ended the 2010 season nursing injuries which caused him to miss three full games and most of a fourth. The first injury, suffered in Week 13, helped end his NFL record streak of consecutive starts. His last injury, suffered in Week 15, ended his season.

Favre also compiled a career-low 69.9 passer rating.
