Terrell Owens Takes Another Shot at Donovan McNabb's Endurance

Terrell Owens may not have caught a pass from Donovan McNabb in five years, but that doesn't mean he doesn't still think about their Eagles days.

On "The T.Ocho Show," Owens' program with Chad Ochocinco, Owens added to the controversy surrounding Donovan McNabb's surprising benching last Sunday against Detroit by recalling the most famous controversy between the two of them. Referencing the explanation from Mike Shanahan that McNabb's "cardiovascular endurance" wasn't quite good enough to run the team's two-minute drill, Owens said:

"Well, I don't really want to start anything, but I did play in the Super Bowl and there were rumors where he couldn't get our two-minute offense going at the end of the game. I'm just saying."


The Eagles lost to the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX in 2005, a game in which Owens excelled but McNabb struggled to rally the team for a fourth-quarter comeback. Afterwards, when arguing that he should be paid more than McNabb, Owens commented that, "I'm not the one who got tired in the Super Bowl."

McNabb took the high road in responding to the benching on Tuesday, but admitted that he was insulted by it.

For what it's worth, Ochocinco understands why McNabb would be insulted, and took his side in the show's debate.

"If anyone else out there feels that Rex Grossman gives the Washington Redskins a better chance than Donovan McNabb to win a game with two minutes left on the clock, they need to slap they selves."

Owens and McNabb had a rocky relationship while playing together in Philadelphia, but had supposedly reconciled, to the point that McNabb reportedly lobbied the Redskins to sign Owens before he inked a contract with the Bengals.
