FBN Chiefs Dolphins Trade

MIAMI (AP) -Quarterback Tyler Thigpen has been traded by the Kansas City Chiefs to Miami, an indication the Dolphins expect to be without Chad Pennington the rest of the season.

Miami acquired Thigpen on Tuesday for an undisclosed draft pick, said his agent, Joel Turner. Thigpen shores up depth behind second-year pro Chad Henne, who is expected to make his first NFL start Sunday against Buffalo.

Rookie Pat White is the Dolphins' other quarterback.

Thigpen, a third-year pro, started 11 games for the Chiefs last year and threw for 2,608 yards with 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He slipped in the depth chart when the Chiefs acquired Matt Cassel in the offseason.

Pennington hurt his shoulder in the Dolphins' loss Sunday at San Diego.
