Madison Bumgarner: Future CY Young Winner
Madison Bumgarner (SP, SFO/U.S. Team)
“Mad Bum” is the best pitcher in the minor leagues. Period. If he is available in your keeper league, can I receive an invite next year? The 6-foot-4, 215 pound lefty throws a mid-90s fastball that entices hitters to sacrifice bunt with no one on base. Check out his numbers at Low-A last year: 141.2 IP, 1.46 ERA, 164 Ks, 21 BBs, and a .216 BAA. Gulp. Bumgarner is doing it again this year. At High-A and Double-A combined, he has a 1.63 ERA, 66 Ks, 19 BBs, and .211 BAA. Do you want to know the scary part? Mad-Bum is only 19 and he’s doing this with a still-developing changeup and raw breaking stuff; his ceiling is ridiculous. Bumgarner could receive a September cup of java if he continues his nasty ways. You are looking at a future Cy Young winner.
