Personally until they fix the unions i would not give GM or Ford any money as right now the workforce is bankrupting both companies. If you read into detail currently both companies have workers sitting out 2 hours a day yet still getting paid for that free time. I believe if they truly want money and a chapter 11 is considered a must the companies need to be restructured. I think unions are ruining many business (ie. Airline companies) and we all need to develop a better work force idea where you can still offer all the same amenities as the union without all the strings attached. Something similar to how Costco works their business should be adopted as they are generated billions annually with no union work force to show.
